Dale has a 40-year academic career working in the field of agronomy and is widely regarded as an exceptional teacher. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science of America. Dale’s specific research interest is plant mineral nutrition. His initial research was on nitrogen metabolism in the root nodules and leaves of soybeans. In the mid 1990s, Dale discovered that magnesium and phosphorus play a role in the cattle disease, grass tetany, and began researching forage physiology. His research contributions in this area include effects of phosphate levels on magnesium availability in forage grasses and micronutrient concentrations in stockpiled tall fescue treated with phosphorus.

Joan Timmermans - $10.50 South Canterbury & West Otago Topic: The “how and why” of sap testing.
Joan specialises in balancing crop nutrition. He uses plant sap analyses to improve plant growth, production and health, by fine-tuning the fertilisation programme. Plant sap analysis provides insight to the actual uptake of available nutrients by the plant. The test reveals 21 major and minor elements which the plant has available for growth and development. It reveals a nutrient deficiency about 4-6 weeks earlier than conventional tissue testing. With the use of plant sap analysis, fertiliser use can be adjusted to meet the actual needs of a healthy crop.

Peter Eggers - $10.50 Canada Topic: Why and how are Peter's yields better than both GMO and conventional crops?
Peter grew up on a farm in Northern Germany, within 1km of the North Sea. After studying agriculture, he immigrated in 1980 to Alberta, Canada and started farming there two years later. He initially farmed conventionally, however, in the mid 1990s, he undertook training in holistic management and slowly remodelled the farm. In 2002, Peter took a Neal Kinsey course, which introduced him to William A Albrecht’s work and he hasn’t looked back. He started mineral balancing in 2004 and the farm was certified organic in 2007. Today, Peter grows perennial forage for grazing and feed, in rotation with wheat and peas.
